Hi, posting this on behalf of a friend, and his dog.

Hi

My dog had a malignant melanoma removed from his gum a few months back followed by radiation to the area.

At the site of the original tumour he has developed necrosis which seems to be getting larger and he is finding it more painful to eat on one side.
Im pretty worried and distresses as I dont want Chewwie to suffer needlessly.

The vetenary oncology dept is keeping an eye on things and playing wait and see.

He has been on Synulox (antibiotic) for a while and has just started a course of Predniserone(steroid?) today.

Ive done a bit of Googling but cant find much for the layman.

basically - can this heal? Is there anything I can do to help him? I read briefly something about hypobaric chamber therapy (oxygen saturation?)

Im going to phone my personal vet tomorrow but any views or advice woulkd be really welcome

Cheers

PS Im not looking for false hope, just a realistic appraisal so I can do the best for Chewwie - I especially dont want himn to suffer needlessly
