Ragwort disposal?

How to dispose of ragwort that's been pulled? I'm guessing green waster disposal dumps won't take them. Can I burn it in a metal wheelbarrow? How to do this safely- do I add a splash of petrol? How do I dispose of the ashes? Are they entirely dead - Can the ashes be buried in the same field?

It's a small amount , 2 wheelbarrows worth in its wilted state.

Small amounts can be composted but burning is recommended. We just throw it on a bonfire on top of a load of cardboard

And please don't put petrol anywhere near a fire!

The small amounts I pull up (we do not have any in the fields after 55+ years of removal) get put in the wheelie bin for Council composting.

We take ours to the council tip and ask the attendants if we can dump it in the incineration skip. They readily agree when we explain what it is.

I certainly wouldn't compost it. Burning is the best way to get rid of ragwort.Let it dry put it in a metal container and it will burn.

I've always composted on the muck heap, that's worked fine for the 23 years we've been here. Hardly any to pull nowadays, but in the beginning there were many, many wheelbarrow loads. Don't like burning anything.

I put them in the council composting, they go to a small plant that produces gas that can be used for heating. If the compost gets warm enough, it kills the seeds.

The issue with composting is that the seeds can remain viable. Best to burn it.

Burn it. Took 10+ yrs but barely any nowadays. Nice big bonfire

Burn it - using diesel not petrol. We don't seem to have too much left now after 20 odd years. I would never put it on our compost, even the tiniest bit of root can regenerate into a viable plant.
