Ok so further to my post yesterday (written in glorious sunshine) full of hope of how thanks to tips off here, my youngster was gonna have a schooling session and jump session, its pee'd it down, like terrential rain, which is fine as we have a school and fields are sand based so it doesnt get very wet really, so when rain dropped to a drizzle, mare got tacked up led out to school, to proceed to jump about like a nut job when i tried to mount, bloat belly when trying to girth, suck in when nearly on so saddle slipped, and in general be a pain in the ass.

am hoping this was a one off due to weather, what u guys think?

p.s if this hadnt been my only full day off this week i wouldnt have even considered riding.

MY TB is impossible in very wet weather. He insists on going backwards or sideways to avoid getting his face wet, I know I should persevere but I really dont think it's worth the hassle. To get 5 minutes of good work from him we both end up absolutely sodden and miserable with wet tack to boot.

My youngster used to hate being ridden in the rain, she would go in all directions bar the one I wanted her to go in, but she was prone to a few spats in the early days. I just had to grit my teeth and ride her through it, I planned what I wanted to achive that training session and aimed for that. My opinion at the time was if we go to shows and it rains she will still have to compete especially if its an event with specificed times so she had to get used to it.
She is fine now the only thing I really hate and avoid if poss is the wind and heavy rain togeather.
