Rain needed!!

I never actually thought i would want it to rain...but i do now!! It has been about 3weeks!

My poor horsey is struggling, he has arthritis and at present is out 24/7 which he loves as do i its been so warm its good for him to move around, but the ground is like concrete and he is getting so 'footy'.

Any suggestions of what i could do to help him??
Do you think he should come into his straw bed for a few hours even during the day to get off the hard ground? Or should i tell him to tough it out and enjoy the sunshine (he is happier outside in the sun which is why i love hte fact he has been out for 3weeks!!) His feet are to be trimmed on wed (will be 8 1/2 weeks due to bank hols)

im desperate for rain too, the amount of xc events im now not going to due to solid ground

regarding the feet, ask the vet, play it safe.

i have bute lying around already (got a big box off vet...useful to have as a friend haha!!) I dont think it helps his pollen allergy is kicking off so he moves around less anyway!
Thanks for the advice and i shall be joining you on the rain dances!! Agree with worry about hay yield especially when we are already a field down due to having so many triplet lambs!

Ours are now in till it rains... Fields all got fertilized on Thursday, having a 5yr old I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later!

ino its terrible. just been to the farm and his hock was swollen and tiny bit of heat- possibly a bite or his arthritis maybe flaring up, so i have just hosed it off to his objection and he is now back out. I am guessing to keep him moving rather than let it fill in a stable, obv if it is worse vet will come out tomorrow...not going to wait until its bank hols!! and also double dose bute for couple of days i think. God i hope it rains soon!!
