Hello All

Have gone on hols and come back to see one of my girls have a bit of rain rot. What home remedy recommendations can you give me?

Creams to apply that are cheap alternitives and home sprays to leave on?

A big home remedy I have heard is 50/50 water and mouthwash!!

Help!!

Friend has used mouthwash and then coconut oil but I've yet to try it. I use a silver wash as it has antibacterial properties but it was quite expensive. I have thought of looking for a human version to see if it's cheaper.

Quickest, easiest and hazzle free way to get rid of it is to bath horse with Nizoral shampoo - buy from a chemist

Dilute with hand hot water and rub well into coat. You can leave it to dry, no need to rinse off. I mix mine up in a pump spray bottle and spray it on, working into the caot with my fingers or a plastic curry comb.

You won't need to pick off the scabs or put any other cream/ointment on it.

Feeding Copper and zinc as a supplement works really well to prevent it from even happening. I have a mineral block permenantly in the paddock - it has both Copper and Zinc in it as well as many other minerals.

We use pink lotion from the vets. Treated exactly the same as mud fever. Don't use creams that aren't anti bac as all they will do is give a good environment for it to thrive in. We sudocremed for months but couldn't shift the last little bit which pink lotion did in days. Pan
