After gently moistening and removing bits of the scabs and drying, what cream to you use afterwards to soothe and heal? I've been using aloe vera gel as easy to apply when the skin is a bit sore and pony doesn't appreciate having too much rubbed in to them but just wondered what others have found works?

hibiscrub daily to get the scabs off and keep dry in between. no creams! you have to get the scabs off before it will heal, you can use muddy marvel de-scab if the scabs are stubben or big, can take a little while to get right tho.:)

Interesting.

We use baby oil, betadine wash or MTG to soak the scabs over a few days, loosen them with an ordinary close toothed hair comb then zinc oxide on the bald patches ...and that is on the advice of a Vet.

Someone else told me that they don't do anything, just leave the scabs and in time the new hair grows through and the scabs fall out naturally. Hmmm.

This has been a dreadful Fall for rain rot, wet and warm. It's been 15C today, too warm to blanket anything, blanketing just provides dark and warmth for it to get worse.

I miss MTG! Good stuff that is.

When my horse had it I just used Malaseb on him, and that was it. This was vet recommended.

we loosen scabs then hibiscrub to remove rest of scabs then apply a cream our vet makes up which has antibiotics and steroids in , i only need to use it once and it clears up completly
