My mare has been out 24/7 all summer with no rug, and is a woolly bear, but under her coat across her back she has lots of scabs.
She hasn't lost any of her coat at the moment, and she is now on a different turnout regime, in a lightweight Fal breathable rug. However I know I need to deal with the scabs. I can pick them off to a certain extent, she is sensitive but not overly sore, but there are too many to pick off individually and I know I need to soften them.
I'm reluctant to use Hibiscrub as I would have to hose it off and it seems harsh to be hosing a horse with cold water at this time of year!
Can anyone recommend a kinder method that would also deal with any bacteria?
