Ive got a new pony coming next week, she been out unrugged all winter and has a fair amount of rain scald. I think with a bit of brushing the whole lot is going to lift, so what is the best way to treat it? is there any good product out there that you can recommend.
She will be stable by night and out by day

Give her a full bath with Nizoral shampoo, it's awesome for rain scald. You can buy it at the chemist.

Dilute with hand hot water, lather up really well working lather down to the skin. I use a rough face cloth, it will help dislodge any scabs ready to release.

Leave the shampoo on for 20mins, then rinse well and dry.

Usually one wash clears up the existing Rain Scald and stops anymore from developing. Suggest that you bath before putting on a cover as you don't want to infect the cover.

lovely thanks the advice, was planning on keeping her in for a few days. As didnt want to rug her and make it a breeding ground for infection.
