Is anyone else's horse suffering with rain scald/mud fever this summer?? Mine has some on his shoulders (white fur). Had the vet out for something else today, asked him about this and he said it could well be due to the wet and mild weather. Damn this summer!!!

Just wondered if anyone else had seen this lately?

bracken hasnt however a yearling on my yard has. dont know about the other horses on my yard as bracken is at stud at the mo and the girl with the yearling phoned me to see if she could use my stable as foalie could see mum and was going nuts trying to get over the door!!in my stable shes fine!!! hope your horsie gets better soon and i agree this damn summer has a lot to answer for!!!!!

1 of our foals got it on his back and bum. Vet told us to wash in dilute iodine and apply baby oil every other day. Was all gone in a week and his was a bad case.

My mare has slight mudfever on her white socks, vet reckons from long wet grass

Yes both mine have had some rain scald on their shoulders and back end. The mare is a bit worse but I'm just trying to get her in if it rains or put a lightweight rug on her if she stays out. Fortunately their legs are ok.
