I have to say goodbye to one of my boys tomorrow as he crosses rainbow bridge :'( Please send him vibes for a peaceful passing. If anyone has any lovely horse poems they could share with me too that would be lovely. Id like to do a picture with a nice poem for his previous owner who came to say his goodbyes yesterday. He has a poorly leg which we cant do anymore to help now so he is off to play racehorses in the livery in the sky :'(

So sorry for your loss.

I have this:

The Rainbow Bridge

inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Wagtail has an extract from a James Blunt song in her sig. I can hardly bear to read that though as it reminds me of sitting with my big man Joe as he was passing away.

A Treasured Friend

Blessed was the day you came into my life
I will treasure this day for ever and for always
You accepted me as I accepted you
I trusted you as you trusted me
Together we travelled through fields high and low
The wind in your mane blowing it in my face
I clung to your neck as we ran swiftly through the grass
Your hooves barely making a sound as we were in full flight.

You are as gentle and loving now as you were all those years back
Never been any sort of animosity towards me
You are the perfect companion for me I hope I am the perfect friend for you
You have looked after me through thick and thin
As I now have to look after you in your time of need.
You are so brave despite the pain
You maintain the brightness in your eyes and the will to fight

I am here for you always my love
And always will be for as long as you need me
I will never give up as long as you have the will to live
I have the will to nurse you
I hope and pray
That maybe some day
I will see you running free again
Someday soon
Until the time comes to say goodbye

sending you vibes:(

I love this one. ((hugs))

I'll lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, He said.
For you to love while she's alive
And morn for when she's dead.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months , you see.
But, will you, till I take her back,
Take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief,
You'll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But, there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
I've looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
With trust, I have selected you.
Now will you give her your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come
To take her back again?
I know you'll give her tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you've known!
Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for her
Much sooner than you'd planned
You'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And someday you'll understand.
For though I'll call her home to Me
This promise to you I do make,
For all the love and care you gave
She'll wait for you, inside Heaven's Gate.

My heart goes out to you. Its the price we pay for loving these wonderful animals. I, too, have tears in my eyes as I write this, for you , and for what is before you, and also remembering my boy. I hope tomorrow he goes quietly and peacefully as my old lad did, and I hope Bob will be there to meet him, and together they will run free again. I will be thinking of you, and send you lots pf (((Hugs))) x

Somewhere...somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

My thoughts are with you at this tough time. ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to you. I hope everything goes smoothly.

If the day should come when I'm in pain,
And you know I won't be well again,
Promise you'll do what must be done,
If this is the battle that can't be won.

It'll break your heart, but please be kind,
Don't let your grieving sway your mind.
For this is when you'll let me see
Just how much you do love me.

Together we've had happy years
The future now can hold no fears.
Please don't let me suffer
so When that days comes, please let me go.

For my usual vet please will you send?
But stay with me until the end.
Hold me steady, speak to me
Till my once bright eyes no longer see

In time I hope you'll come to see
It's the last kindness you'll do for me
One more time please stroke my mane
And know that I'll have no more pain.

And don't be sad that it was you
Who decided this was what to do.
We've been such buddies through the years
Don't let me be the cause of tears.

You'll always see me graze now,
with the sun upon my back
Painful limbs won't tire me now,
however long the hack.

I live now in your heart and mind,
a lovely place to stay.
And what you have in memories,
no one can take away.

LAST NIGHT
I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Here is a poem for you, one of my favourites.. Stay strong for your boy tomorrow, as he has for you in hard times. This is when he'll need you to be strong the most. Sending all of my vibes for both you and him for tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you both x

You never said "I'm leaving"
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it
And only god knew why

A million times I needed you
A million times I cried
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place
That no one could ever fill

It broke my heart to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of me went with you
The day that God called you home x

No poem but I think the waiting to do the deed is the hardest part. I am sure it will go smoothly and all the troubles will be over for your horse. Be strong but will be thinking of you.The most hardest bit of being a horse owner but it is being a good owner too.

These poems are lovely and so sad as well.

I'm just behind you too I'm afraid, 10 days to go :(

Hope everything goes ok for you too :( It is definitely the hardest part waiting and fooling yourself that maybe just maybe they will get better. On my boys part sadly the xrays dont lie and I have to stop kidding myself before its too late to manage his pain :(

Thank you everyone for the lovely poems, all have me sobbing away but I hope one will be that extra touch for the photo I send and offer them some comfort too x

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam..
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belongs to our world..
But then it flies again..
And though we wish it could have stayed..
We feel lucky to have seen it..

Remember Me

Remember me when roses bloom
And Spring returns again ---
For I am ever present in your midst
In the dawn and in the wind ---

You mustn't think I've gone away
For good - Instead remember me
The way I was in better days
The way it used to be ----

Remember me as I am now
Alive, at peace, and free ---
There is no place for sorrows past
Is just a lost memory ----

For life derives its' purest joy
In living day to day ---
Follow what I've taught you
And REMEMBER ME, this way .....

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.

I am at peace, my soul's at rest.
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.

There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.

Remember not my fight for breath.
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death.
But celebrate my life.

I hope it all goes peacefully for you tomorrow. xx

Don't Cry for the horses that life has set free, A million horses forever to be, Don't cry for the horses now in Gods hands as they dance and they prance to a heavenly band, they were ours as a gift but never to keep, as they close their eyes forever to sleep.

Their spirits unbound on silver wings they fly a million horses against the blue sky, look up into heaven, you'll see them above, the horses we lost, the horses we loved, manes and tails flowing they gallop through time, they never were yours, they never were mine, don't cry for the horses they will be back someday, when our time has come they will show us the way.

On silver wings they will lift us to the warmth of the sun, when our life is over and eternity has begun, we will jump the sun and dance over the moon a ballet of horses and riders on the winds to a heavenly tune, do you hear that soft nicker close to your ear? Don't cry for the horses, Love the ones that are here.

How can I bear to lose you,
my precious gentle one,
to know that you will not be here when my day is done.
So much of my heart, my love, have I given up to you,
how then can I stand the pain now that your life is through.
My sorrow overwhelms me,
the tears so freely flow,
how can I carry on my life,
with a heart that's laden so.
Then the answer comes to me from the stillness in my soul, remembering the love we shared will help to make me whole.
I'll hold you in a special place,
so deep within my heart,
and in these loving memories, we'll never be apart.
You will not be so far away,
your presence I will feel,
I'll wrap myself in memory
and slowly I will heal.
The years we shared, the little joys,
the laughter and the tears,
my love for you will never die, but strengthen with the years.
So fare you well, my precious love,
I gently let you go,
And pray for all the Gods' there be
that you will always know,
I loved you so, my little one,
that love will never cease,
I gave you warmth, I gave you love,
and now I give you peace.
