Has anyone had this on their horses face?

For the last 3 or 4 days (apparently, he's at livery so only just seen it) my horse has had what appears to be a large area of mud rash type thing all down his face from just under forelock out to almost the eyes and halfway down his face. If you pick at it the hair comes off and it's all patchy. Does this sound like mud rash? I've obviously seen it on legs before but not the face.

He's never had anything like it before and no sign of it anywhere else..

Did have this on my old boy one winter. He was wintering out with a group of polo ponies. We think he was shoving his head into the middle of the haylage bale. My Vet gave me some cream for his face and we moved him to a different group and put the haylage in piles on the ground. It cleared up quickly, but looked a mess as the hair fell off.

Carefully wash his face with Nizerol - you can buy it from a chemist. Dilute with hand hot water and lather up well with a face cloth. Leave 10 mins and carefully rinse off - you can leave it and it will carry on working. Not had any problems with it.

Thanks all. Why would it appear on his face and not the other parts of his body? Would being out in the rain cause this or is it infected brushes or something?

Is it on white bits of his face (if any)? Sounds like it could be photosensitisation due to eating buttercup.
