Rainscalde

Has anyone experience of rainscald? I think my boy has it. Hes got lots of little pea sized dry scabs on his neck area, not sore just scabby. Hes stabled overnight and in good condition. He has a neck cover when its wet.
I will be speaking to the vet, anyone had a horse with this?

My (then) yearling had a patch of rainscald last summer. He was very sensitive and not up for me messing with it too much so I gave the area a thorough wash and used Equitech Mud Stop. Applied the lotion every day and the scabs brushed off within a week. Fabulous stuff.

Lots of people also swear by Nizoral shampoo but if you wash daily make sure you get the area completely dry or you'll make it worse.

Keep the area as dry as possible and disinfect any brushes you use.

Check you diet I find once on a good supplement (not all are well balanced) it clears up nice and quick and doesn't return.
