Does anyone know if horses object to eating hay that has been soaked with rain? I know some horses will eat anything, but others are pickier. We had a really bad rain storm a couple of weeks ago, and my horse's hay bags which were outside got soaked. The storm happened just before midnight and by the next mid-morning, he hadn't eaten any of it. He was really hungry and even though there must have been a good 2-3 flakes in the bag, he didn't want to touch it. I am just curious if any horses would object, or if mine is just being difficult! I might also add that I am on full board, and the help did not give him any fresh dry hay in the morning. Should I have been upset? Also, does it make a difference to the horse if the wet hay is alfalfa, first cut, or second cut? Thanks so much.
