Hi guys,

As some of you may have seen, I'm new here and have rescued a shetland pony with seriously neglected feet and possible cushings/laminitis issues.

The vet is coming out tonight to xray and blood test etc, but as you can imagine the vet bills are going to run into the hundreds.

As a result, i'm selling lots of stuff on ebay. The only horsey thing I have at the moment is a brand new 7ft cooler rug, and it's here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7ft-Honey...t=UK_Horse_Wear_Equipment&hash=item27c48c0f2d

It's got a starting price of 99p, as have most of my other items. If you check them out, I have perfume / mother's day gifts, a few clothes, rocking horses and a Vivienne Westwood handbag (my favourite - gutted!).

I'm sorry if this breaks any rules, I'm just really trying to raise some much-needed funds to help this little man.

Thanks for reading :)

Good luck but if your having to sell things to fund his vet bills, can u really afford him?

I seem to remember that was discussed in OPs thread about this pony, and under the circumstances (pony in desperate situation) it was very understandable why her heart ruled her head.

I can afford his upkeep, yeah. I rent my own land cheaply and have a stable etc on it which I built and have had for years. I can pay the bills, but am trying to put the money back in the communal pot so that my husband is a little more understanding - he didn't want me to take on a 19 year old pony that I couldn't ride to start with, and the cost of these bills is kind of proving his point :(

Oh, and I know that riding horses has absolutely nothing to do with it - I get just as much enjoyment from this little chap as I did from my old riding mare. But try telling that to a hubby who knows nothing about horses, who doesn't see the fascination, and who keeps seeing money leave my bank account that could be going towards the family holiday this year. At least this way i'm showing willing to make it a venture that he's not having to pay for.

I can't fault you for flogging a few bits off to recoup some cash... Hope you manage to get a few bob for it all to help the little guy out...

Have my eye on a gift set for the M-I-L... :)

I enjoy my old ones that can't be ridden anymore as well, it's not all about riding is it. I love spending time with them and grooming them.

Good on you - the pony I am sure is very grateful and you have acted in kindness - a selfless act. I believe in karma and what goes around comes around. Well done you :)

what a lovely thing to do! i heartily approve and hope the little man gets sorted and goes on to have many good years, and gives you much happiness.

very good idea to flog off all the stuff to raise funds, sad about the handbag though! i once sold my beautiful red leather chair to cover costs, can't bear to think about, but then i did'nt use it very often.

a little bit like that won't cost a lot to maintain once he's sorted

Yes it is a lovely thing for you to take this time and sacrifice for the little one.
I am in full support.
Not everyone can instantly afford things but there any many long routes of going about it.
Thank the lord that there is people like you in the world.
I hope nobody reports your post also.
