Rakti Dies After Stable Accident

RAKTI, the world's joint-champion miler in 2004 and at his peak the horse Michael Jarvis rated the best he has trained, has died at stud in Australia after suffering an injury in his stable. The 11-year-old stallion, who had moved permanently to Victoria after spending the Northern Hemisphere season at the Irish National Stud,died after he was found with a shattered pelvis which pierced an artery.

He was incredible - such a strapping big beautiful horse. How sad. It's hard to believe a horse can shatter the pelvis in the stable.

Danehill died after an injury sustained whilst covering a mare in Australia, Rakti whilst a fantastic racehorse did have a very 'suspect' temperament, I wouldn't have used him on any mare we have, still shame that he died as he did.

Danehill had a similar injury, but it happen in Coolmoore Stud, Ireland, he reared up and went over backwards when being led in hand.
