thinking of buying one , i've liked the rambo's i've had in the past & like the fact that with the liners you can make different weights , so would buy a duo & a couple of extra liners

my thinking is the cost would be about £250 but i would then have rugs at say 100g , 200g , 300g which would cost to buy 3 seperate ones , & i would save £10 a time by being able to wash in my own machine

does it really work out?

& , what are the sizes like? my lad measures 6'3" but that size in a weatherbeeta turnout is a bit tighter sround the chest than ideal (fits fine stable rug), he is quite chucky but compact length wise (16.3hh) advice on size please

thanks

Up until last month i wuld have said go for it, but since then I have had two rip to shreds not in the washing maching either one was approx 1 year old the other was four months old, i would have expected a rug that costs this much to have been more lasting. but saying that for ease of use i would love another

Love mine. Had it all winter and it has been a god send. Bought it off heyfarm on e-bay (145) and it came with a liner free which has washed really well and the rug itself has dried really well with all the rain. Size wise my boy is usually 6ft but i bought 6ft3 as i find horseware come up small.

I like mine - bought from Hey Farm for just under £170 and extra liners for £28-32. I don't work for or have any connection with Hey farm btw - just find that's the cheapest place around for duos. My horse is a slim-ish build and has 6ft3 for everything including the rambo, her weatherbeeta rugs are not tight though so you may need the next size up. I love the ease of changing the liners for different conditions and bought all the available liners. I have not tried washing mine yet though so can't advise on that aspect.

I love my Duo but would advise going for a size larger than normal as it's quite a snug fit.
The neck cover also seems to be on the narrow side and a bit tight on my welsh x tb.
Other than that, fantastic rug. it comes with the 300g liner so you would only need to buy teh 200 and 100g liners, although there is a 400g liner available as well.
I got mine at a fantastic price from HeyFarm Saddlery (online). £230 odd inc the extra liners.

Hate mine! I bought mine after so many people recommended them. However, I would never buy one again. The idea is great, I do like th fact I can wash the liner. However, Ive found the outer rug far too neat. It fits fine length ways on my fine TB x but is quite neat round the neck (amazing feat on this horse!) and the tail flap is also not very substantial. The neck cover is a joke. Its way too neat as well, so its tight and goes right back when he puts his head down. The neck doesnt even do up round my Welsh Cobs neck!!

Compared to the Weatherbeeta Combos Ive had, I would definately stick with those. Or FAL.

Love mine - bought it directly from the factory in Dundalk. Couldn't be happier with it, nice and deep although as mentioned the neck cover is little dainty but that's not a problem on my TB.

Love mine. Merlin has lived out in it for the whole winter 24/7.

I wash the liners weekly and that means there is not a build up of grease to make his coat sticky..... he shines beautifully.

Velcro varies though. Where it attaches the neck to the rug, it is of herculean strength.. meaning taking the neck off is a big effort. Whereas the chest velcro could be undone by a sparrow and infact from the moment I bought it has never stayed done up.

My under neck velcro has been good too, but someone on here has had trouble with theirs not staying sticky.

All said I would have another one.... I have the 100g 200g and 300g liner, meaning I have at least four weights to choose from.... what more could I need

Got mine from Eileen Douglas for about £145 but in the summer!!

I bought mine with a 300g liner last Autumn (£50 secondhand but the liner and neck cover were unused).

However I'll be honest and say I've only used it last Autumn and a couple of mild days last month and only then for the 100g outer. I'm still using my other rugs, MW, HW, full-neck etc. Still the weather is improving and maybe I will start using it again soon!

One thing I really don't like is the shiny lining of the outer rug appears to make my boy very greasy.

Forgot to add that Im one of those whos had problems with the neck cover velcro also (maybe I got a rogue rug?!). Where it connects to the main rug, the velcro flap bits have torn 3 times!! And the velcro under neck bits have undone themselves.

I have one, and have been very happy with it.

However, I have also purchased a couple of Premiere Equine rugs this season. And I have to say that they are really, really fantastic. There is no comparison on price (£94 for a heavyweight turnout compared to £200 odd for a Rambo....) - but every comparison on quality and fit.

I am off to buy my third Premiere Equine this morning.........

Overall, I love mine and they fit my TB and TBx really well.
The only gripe I have is the time it takes to change the liner - having two horses I have to plan ahead and make sure the night before that I've got the appropriate weight liner in - changing them in the morning before work would take too long.
