Hi, just after some of everyone's advice / thoughts please!
I've always had Weatherbeeta rugs & been very pleased with them.
However, I've been offered a Rambo Duo secondhand for £100. It's only been used for last winter, cleaned & stored in a warm garage. No rips / tears / damage. Complete with 300g liner.
My questions:
Is this rug superior to the Weatherbeeta range (I'm currently using an Arion Combo but pesky horse has managed to rip the neck - again!)?
How well does the 'liner system' work? Is it a pain in the a*** or fantastic??
I understand the 'neck' is detachable - will this rub his mane as I don't have this problem with the Weatherbeeta??

Is the price good?

Any other thoughts particularly if people have used both the Weatherbeetas & Rambo Duos.

Thanks!

I hate weatherbeta with a passion - however I love Rambo. I think you could be getting a really good price on that. I'd go for it!

The necks are like any - if you leave it on constantly you will have a problem but if you are sensible it will be fine.

I have the duo and hate WB...... the liners are fabby.... no more greasy rugs ... just pop the liner into the machine and back on in a few hours as they dry so quick

The neck has rubbed a third of merlins mane out.... but he is out in it 24/7.

It does not rub or slip or leak or anything undesireable.... so full votes from me

Hello you!!!

I bought a 2nd hand duo of a HHO'er and its been absolutely fab! Ginger beast is a freezer but has managed this winter (so far) with just the 300g liner, I think because its almost a layered system it keeps them warmer than one big 400g rug?!

My only problem with the duo is the neck cover is a bit short, it didn't keep him very clean and only came half way up his neck. So I got a Premier Equine Buster neck cover (which fits perfectly onto the Duo), that has helped no end!

Speaking of Premier Equine, they have their 'Duo' equivalent in the sale

You get a lot more for your money ie more liners and the quality of their stuff is superb, so if you can afford a bit more I'd go for a new one of the Buster Trio!!

Turned into a bit of a ramble, but hope it makes sense!!

PM sometime for a chat

Hiya Sneedy!!
Great to hear from you & glad ginger beastie is OK!
Jumped my ginger one tonight as am hoping to SJ with the riding club on Sunday!
Sounds like the Duo is a good rug then?! Will also look on the PE website. Only issue is that I've heard their rugs are very 'heavy' to handle?
I bought one of their waffle rugs (about 2 weeks ago), washed it as per instructions & it's shrunk! Now looks like ginger beastie is wearing a skirt!!

....poor J, how will he cope!!!!

Good luck on Sunday, should be fun!

Most of the feedback on here re PE has been good, esp re turnout rugs. But the Duo is a good rug and a good price so go for it if you're happier with that!

IMO Rambo rugs are the best on the market..... I wouldn't have a WB given.

My TB's wear theirs 24/7 and have had no mane rubs at all from the neck covers. My oldest duo is heading into it's 4th year now and is still going strong.

The rug is well worth £100, go for it

We have a horse on the yard who wears his Duo 24/7 & it hasn't rubbed his mane out.
The PE version is very good & at the moment is only £123 Including 3 different weight liners & 2 different weight neck covers. I think it sounds like a better deal for only £23 more. Its usually £185. My sister is really pleased with hers.

I bought a Rambo Duo at the start of the winter (sadly not for £100!

) and I love it. It's lovely and deep, so wraps around my girls belly nicely and looked so pretty until she coated it in mud!

I don't find the liners too much of a pain to be honest, although my girl has mostly lived in her 100g liner, only needing to go up to the 200g liner when it got really cold, she is a hot girl anyway, but it does seem to be a warm rug.

I haven't used the neck cover a huge deal as I found it a little neat on her. I think for next year I'll splash out on a larger size neck cover. It is quite short too.

I'd definitely reccomend you go for it though.
