I’m looking to buy the Optimo Turnout for my horse who is currently in a Rambo Duo in 6’9” so was going to order online the 6’9” in an optimo but I keep reading they come up big? Is this true and if so what size should I order? Don’t want to keep having to post back to swap sizes! Also any deals to be had as the ones online for Black Friday just look the same prices! Thank you :-)

I always go up a size for Horseware rugs. So CM who is 6ft0 in WB, Bucas, Shires etc... is 6ft3 for HW. However from what I've been told the Optimo does run bigger due to the large pleat, so she would need her normal size of 6ft0 for that one.

I haven't actually bought one though... it's just what I was advised.

Thanks Faracat 😃. He is in Rambo duo at 6’9” so if they fit the same then I’d need to stay the same. Might have to buy from local tack shop so easy to swap if not the right size!

My ISH wears 6.9" in Rhinos and Rambos and the same in the Optimo. The Optimo is generously cut and has a deeper neck and leg darts but it's still fits a 6.9 " well unless perhaps it's a narrowly built, fine horse.
Optimos are great on horses with a bit of bone or that are well muscled.

Thanks dogatemysalad! He is a Belgium warm blood so is leggy but deep in neck and barrel. The duo is right up his neck but is not deep enough down his sides so it looks like he is wearing a mini skirt! Lol! Hoping the optimo covers more. 👍🏻😃

I have 5 optimos on 16 hh tb to woppa 18hh+ ISH. Optimos I have bought after 2015 all fit true to size. The oldest one is a 6'6 but would fit a fine 6'9, newer ones fit as they should.

They are deeper so I think that is why some people might think they look big.

Brilliant rugs, never move and never had any rips or leaks, just had to replace the plastic loop on the surcingle on a couple but they come with spares and i would rather that broke then the strap being ripped off :)

My very generous stable one was only bought last year.

One of mine is new and ones a couple of years old. They dont look deep to me, but then my pony is very deep bodied, but they are definitely big length wise. I tried her in a 5ft9 day rug at the weekend and she just squeezed in it, but needed 6ft really. The 5ft6 optimo is fine and the 5ft9 slightly too big.
