been offered a rambo optimo at a amazing price of a friend only been worn 4 times but her horse has sadly passed on, and her new mare will not even come close to fitting in to it
so i would get the rug, the neck and a 400g for less then half price!

but before i go ahead with it, any one had one?

any good?

pros?

cons??

any thing about them would be great

I would bite her hand off. Have only had the stable sheet, but with the big pleaty thing it was fantastic for not slipping back and not putting much weight on the wither - horse had a very high wither and was prone to rubs there. Would be sorely tempted to buy one for new horse, but the stable rug is too thick for my boy and I just can't justify the price of the turnout! Am keeping my eyes peeled for a good condition 2nd hand turnout in 6'3" (if anyone's selling?!!) but no luck so far!

I have 2 - one on an Irish draught and the other on a chunky ISH (ID x tb).

I think they are fantastic rugs and perfect for the bigger chested horse. I think they would be too roomy in the chest for fine or tb types. They didn't mark or leave rub marks on them and left their mane completely intact.

But they are really generous in size! Both my horses had to take a size smaller in the optimo vs. every other horseware rug they have (ID is a 6'9 in all her horseware rugs, but a 6'6 in the optimo). The liner system is really handy too - I can throw the liners into the wash if they get a bit dirty or wet.

I would love them for my two but am skint so they with have to make do with shires rugs instead! I have seen them though and they do come up big so it hopefully might fit your boy if he's chunky.

Yay! I got one for my IDXTB under similar circumstances. It's great. I've never needed anything warmer that 200g liner. My horse would cook in 400! Size wise I think it works the other way round. Someone sold me their 6'9" but it fits my horse who usually takes a 7' rug.
