i had one on my old horse
i would go one size up from normal
nice enough rugs, quiet tough material, good if your horse is plauged by flies and really needs a fly rug
ive now got an amigo bug rug, which i love, but the fabric is thinner and softer so might not be much good for an itcher
Thanks, the amigo bug rug wouldnt fasten round his chest which is odd as I have there turnout and thats fine. I even went a size up and that wasnt much better. Did your horse sweat in the protector?, just with you saying you prefered the bug rug as it was lighter.
Amigo are still made by horseware aren't they? I tried an Amigo for my pony and it was too tight wouldn't go round his chest. His old rug is a Rhino and is fine. Seems like maybe the amigos are made for finer horses maybe?
My TB wore his for the whole summer last year and the fit round the neck was really good as they have that special clip system, and this allowed him freedom without be strangled
He normally wears a 6' rug in Masta and WB and he wore the same in this
The only downside it that it rubbed his mane off a bit and his tail was a bit bog brushy at the beginning of winter but now is ok
It has washed up well but the softness has gone and it is left with the bare shell of the fabric.
I really would like this rug to have a fixed neck as that would reduce the neck rubbing
I will have to put him in it initially but am looking for a better alternative, if there is such a thing
I used one last year and liked it. My horse has snagged the neck in a few places as she is always leaning over fences. I got my horse's normal size - she is a very butch TB.
Theyve brought a new one out this year, think it has a fixed neck but its £100. Its supposed to have fly repellent in it that lasts for 25 washes?? Cant think what its name is

I have seen that one, but thought the neck was like the other one ... will go and have another look
Oooops, its not fixed, its seperate. Ive got the premier Equine Bug buster and for the money its great, just that the neck bit is too small on my boy and I had to lengthen the straps.
