Ive just bought a new one for my lad, he dosnt haves sweet itch but is quite sensative to the bugs and things and i find that it works reaaly well.
Ive gone up a size because the other one he had 2 years ago he out grew.
Trouble is the new one slips terribly to the one side, ive tried tightening straps etc but dosnt seem to make any difference, he only has to walk a few steps and over it goes.
Have rung the shop i got it from and they said theyd never had a problem before and maybe it dosnt siut the horses shape and basically because its used im going to loose out, they arent cheap are they :-/ anyone else had the same problem. or any ideas as to why its slipping so badly.

Not very helpful but I have been using a rambo sweetitch hoody for several years on my mare. It has never ever slipped.
They do hold their price well 2nd hand especially for one that has no repairs/damage.

mine never moves either. horse lives in it for months and it never moves to the side, tightness of straps makes no difference.
it's either the rug (maybe the fabric has been cut on the bias or something?) or perhaps the horse isn't moving straight, maybe needs back checking?
tbh though i'd contact Horseware direct as these rugs have a deservedly great reputation, and obv you can't have it slipping to the side immediately. that's infuriating.

I have used them, never had a problem with them slipping or moving at all. Horseware customer service is second to none, I'm sure they will take it back and replace it for you.

Mmm, whatta shame. These are seriously good rugs and its a shame if yours is slipping. Maybe its the shape of your horse? My old boy was like this, every single rug I put on him would slip over to one side - it was so infuriating!

The other thing which it might be, is, as suggested, the size of the rug. Maybe it is too big? If you'd bought a "cheapie"/less well known brand, I'd be inclined to think the material had been cut on the wrong bias, but with Horseware I don't think that would be the case.

Just a suggestion: but could you get someone who does rug repairs to put on some leg-straps for you? That might solve your problem.

My last horse had sweetitch and used to live in the Rambo rug which was fab! But never slipped! I'm surprised that it is able to with the amount of fastenings, ear holes, etc etc is it a bit big for him? If not maybe as someone above said it might be a faulty item...

it dosnt look big on him at al, the last one he had, he definalty grew out of it, it was tight round chest and it dint reach his tail,:-)
i rang horsewareif ireland up and they said to contact the seller and they would change it but have to go through them, i rang him and he said hed get bsck to me and gues what, he hasnt...yet.. i know there might be a good reason for this :-/
He said it might not fit his shape although he's had one for the past 2 years and hasnt had a problem.
Hopefully he will sort it out for me, thanks for your replys x
