Friends of mine last was asking if i knew anyone with one of the Van type lorries as they are interested in them. Does anyone know if they are anygood and can they carry 2 horses, like 16.1/2??

Thanks

well i dont have one (wish i did and will certainly get one when i can afford it!) but yes they can carry 2 horses, I believe up to 16.2 - cant comment on the amount of room something that size would have though. I used a horse transporter to travel my 2 from Hampshire to Kent, and both travelled beautifully - they had a nice smooth ride and i would thoroughly recommend them.

The hi roof Renault has enough height inside to take a 16.2, but you just need to check the unladen weight. We have one which we've used for 2 15 hand horses which would weigh just over a ton, so can still carry all the tack and extras.

It would fit 2 in but very doubtful whether it would be legally underweight with 2 x 16.2 horses plus passenger (s) and everything else in there. I'd doubt if it would legally be underweight with 2 x 16.2 horses in it to be honest.

All I can say is that one of my friends had a renault master, and it cost her thousands. This was despite having it professionally vetted.

She has now sold it as got fed up of £1,000 bills every 6 months.

A friend of mine has one of these:

She travels her 17.1hh TB in it. We traveled my arab and him together in it last year. Because it's not coach built it weighs less and can therefore carry more weight. The actual specs are on the website. It's a fab little van, gives an excellent and very stable ride because its got such a low centre of gravity. She has the 2.8 engine and it pulls effortlessly. She's had no mechanical problems - as long as the vehicle has been well maintained and serviced regularly they are as reliable as anything else. I was a bit dubious about them before I traveled in it last year - but I was very impressed with the build quality and the ride, which was much nicer for horse and human than my 7.5t wagon.
