my dad is a home brewer and he was wondering if the leftover barley would be good to feed to horses? it has been mixed with flaked maize and soaked in hot water for an hour to remove the sugars. it smells so nice and seems a shame to waste it!! i can't think of any reason why it would be bad although i could be missing something quite important!

I used to cook whole barley for my horses they used to love it. I used to cook it slow for a good few hours untill the barley opened, i used to feed them a large scoop each.

You have to be carefull not to feed to much as it will pile on the weight and it can make them a bit fizzy if you feed on a regular basis.

Not sure if malted barley is the same though
