Random question - could my hat being giving me spots?!

This is so random but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I dont normally get spots but recently I have had really bad breakouts around my jaw line. My partner suggested it might be the chin strap on my hat causing it?!

Has anyone else experienced this and what is the best way to clean the chin strap. Its a nylon strap

Yeah bit gross but my old hat gave me a spotty forehead!!! Problem cleared up straight away when I got a new one so I guess it's just a build up of bacteria when you sweat. Could try washing the strap in antiseptic?
 
It could also be caused by sweat as I was getting tiny little spots on my forehead which during the recent weather was very sweaty with a hat on. Since it's cooled down it's OK.

I do the same as GlamourPuss, I use a nail brush to scrub the chin strap with normal soap and water and my hat doesn't have a removable lining so I wash it in the shower and then hang it up to dry when the sun's out.
 
I have only had it 4 months - but I suppose I am wearing it every day for a couple of hours so its bound to get a bit dirty! Will give it scrub and maybe try wiping it with a baby wipe every time I finish riding.

OMG I have had seriously bad forehead spots for a few months now ... I wonder if that could be it! Anti bax'ing my hat later
