Hi all,

This is a long shot, but we lost a hound on Saturday in the Stock/Billericay area of Essex. Not sure how many of you are in this area, but it's worth a try!

She's called Prudence, tan colour bitch hound- not tatooed or chipped.

She's registered lost with the police/RSPCA etc...any help very gratefully received!

Thanks, Sarah

Thanks both, sadly no sign of her yet, I've phoned all the vets in the area, just hoping she appears at some point.

Will be glad to just find her, then will work out how to capture her!

Will keep you all updated

Sarah, i do understand how frustrating this is, we've had a hound out for 5 weeks now, annoying thing was that the meet was only a valley away and you'd think she would find her way home! like you we have notified the police, local sanctuary, dog warden etc. i won't go down the RSPCA line, they won't help, only spay her if they have her!the worst part is not knowing what has happened to her- best of luck.

Can only sympathize with you has have been there. And out in the field till 10pm blowing for it to turn up asleep in a barn the next day.
You start to thing the worst.

Hoping her hound sense kicks in & she is sat outside the feedhouse one morning.

I have asked the secretary of the ECMH in Essex to spread the word to other hunting people in the area and she will keep an eye out on their travels. Hope you get him back soon, it is an awful feeling having a hound out.

Thanks c_c, one of our followers is JM of the ECMH, so hopefully they'll keep their eyes out.

The main problem is getting people to recognise her as a foxhound- to you or I they're obvoius, but to many others they just look like some kind of mongrel....I've been phoning vets in the area, and the amount that say "what's that" when I say "foxhound"!

Anyway, here's hoping she's home soon- will keep you all updated!

Thanks,

Sarah x

This is the RANT I got from the dogwarden....to whom I didn't complain, just sent an email of thanks to all involved.....

"Thanks again for another great find by Dog Lost. In my defence for the ID I have never seen a Foxhound with a wirey coat and one thats all cream, after extensive searches on the internet the only match I could come up with for her was a Labradoodle, in fact she is extremely similar to doodles! I originally thought she was a cross gun dog. I always check if there is a breed I have not come across before or thats a difficult cross to determine. She needed vet treatment and he said she looked like a Labradoodle. When to owner called in to me to report her missing the description did not match. I think lessons can be learnt to not take descriptions from owners and finders as gospel, I once had a woman say that a Lhasa Apso was a Bearded Collie and would not have it that it wasnt! "

I would have guessed that if you had a cream dog found in exactly the area someone had reported one missing, you'd have taken a guess and asked if it was her? I explained at the time that I was the Secretary, therefore didn't know exact markings etc etc.....but anyway, Pru's back in kennels and will be out for our closing meet tomorrow....

Thanks everyone for your kind words, advice and of course to PiebaldEaster for finding her on Doglost :)

What a muppet! dog wardens are notoriously more trouble than they are worth, a few years ago my lurcher was sat where he always did at the bottom of the drive watching the world go by, now granted we did live in the middle of nowhere but obvious i would think to anyone with half a brain that there is a dwelling at the top of said drive judgung by the cars etc that are visable from road and the postbox at the bottom. Anyway dog warden comes along thinks hes lost and picks him up! Half an hour later, as panic is setting in at home when we realise hes not there, the phone goes (he was wearing collar and tags) the bloody pound on the other end saying they have him, i asked where he was found, 'he was sat at the bottom of a track in middle of nowhere' and went on to describe my bloomin driveway! They still i may add wanted me to pay a fee to collect him! which i refused point blank to pay after having driven half an hr to get him, told them that technically he was sat on my property and therefore the dog warden had stolen him! Anyway, that in my opinion is pretty thick!!!!!
