Hiya, I've got a rising 5 year old Thoroughbred who I've had about 8 months now and for the past fortnight she's been on and off lame. Mainly on her left fore though for a few days she decided it was right fore she was lame on, then yesterday she was perfectly sound, but today she's lame again.
She's not hopping, just completely unwilling to go forward (naturally lazy anyway, but now she looks uncomfortable when asked to move forward) and just doesn't seem 'right' on that leg. She also stumbles a little bit, but that's probably more to do with the fact that she's over grown and clumsy!
We tried keeping her in for a few days but this just made her loopy so she went back out in a small field as there was nothing obviously wrong with her, no heat or swelling in the leg and the farrier says it's nothing to do with the foot.
She was vetted before I bought her and retired from racing sound so it can't be an old racing injury.
I've got the vet coming tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it could be. !

Thanks! x

Don't have any suggestions but didn't want to read and run! Good luck with the vet and please let us know the outcome?

Do you mind me asking what you are feeding?

Unless your farrier has supernatural powers and can see inside the foot/feet, then he can't say this! It sounds like foot to me, but it could be lots of things.

She's on a scoop of alfa and pony nuts and does amazingly on it! She was on conditioning cubes but they sent her loopy so she came off them, but that was mainly because I was worrying that she'd lose weight going into winter but she didn't, she's in amazing condition!
She also gets ad lib haylage and Oestress and biotin supplements.
Why?

Hi guys, vet came today and she wasn't sure what it is either! She's 1/10th lame on her left hind and left fore after flexion tests with no obvious explanation as to what's going on!
She's on a course of bute and ten days of no work, just being turned out in a small paddock so she doesn't go loopy, then she'll come back into light work and go from there
She certainly doesn't make life easy!
