Not really fair as the ins and outs are long and complicated but in a nutshell.
Horse has been off work for three months with neurological problem. He had eight months off two years ago with a similar thing. How much time off would you cope with before you started to question whether horse is probably better off retiring? Only a happy hack so not massive amounts of pressure when ridden. Waiting for vet checks and physio this month to re-assess. Horse shows no signs of pain.

Probably we will never know. He was at Liphook three times xrays bone scans the lot. Incoclusive. Maybe some narrowing of c6 and c7. Originally treated with oral steroids but never really knew what was wrong. Horse got better and has now relapsed. Vet thinks traumatic incident triggered initially and another trauma to start problem again. Just don't know.

Depends whether he is safe to ride or not, or will be able to do the amount of work that you require. Ask vet for honest opinion.
