Hi

Has anyone had success using Ranitidine for hind gut ulcers?
The recommended dose is 6.6mg per kg, my horse is 450kg. How long did you give Ranitidine for?

The packet says they are effective in humans for 12 hours, is this the case with horses too or do I need to give them more frequently?

Thanks

No idea, I am afraid, for horses. I have ranitidine - works wonders for me! I take 300 mg a day - but 300 mg x 2 when bad, together with Gaviscone liquid 4 x per day.

I used ranitidine for hindgut ulcers, it was 10 x 300mg tablets twice a day for 4 weeks then 5 x 400 mg twice a day for 4 weeks.

We'd already tried gastrogard, cimetidine & antepsin with little success but the ramitidine worked a treat.
