About 6 weeks ago I sold an 8 year old section B mare to someone who rang my mother asking if she had any broodmares for sale. Mother gave them my number as I had one of her ponies and didn't have a job for it.
This little mare is bred in the purple (though not a stunner to look at she is very correct), had previously been bred by my mother and sold to someone who had supposedly broken her but from what I could see they had made an arse of the job. Mother bought her back as she felt sorry for her and passed her to me to do some work with.
Due to a number of factors - work and pregnancy mainly - I did very little with her. But everything we did do she did with little fuss.
Anyway I told her full history to the girl that bought her (whom I know incidentally) she said she wanted to breed a foal but also her niece may want to ride it on the lead rein occasionally, I told her the pony was a b......r to catch and could be sharp but we hadn't had any problems with her other than the catching issue. She bought the pony - for peanuts may I add - and that was that.
NOW - 6 weeks later - she has rang me, OH took the call as I was out saying will I buy the pony back as her daughter (who is 14 - pony is 12hh) has fallen off it twice and it is throwing it's head about - equine dentist has told her it has a front tooth missing and they should try it in a rubber snaffle but they thought either I may buy it back or, alternatively my mother would swap it for another pony!!!
I am foaming - she told me she was buying the pony to breed from, though even if she wanted it to ride that wouldn't be a problem as pony is perfectly sound and not a nutter.
Oooh I so cannot wait for this person to ring me back - better try to stay of the wine just in case I say something I regret!!
