I've got one of those "just being friendly" dogs, she's a 46kg malamute who thinks the best way to make friends is to excitedly bound over to a strange dog and bounce on top of them, it's for this reason that she is only off lead in quiet fields that don't generally have others walking their dog in but we still have to be vigilant and look out for any dogs and she goes straight back on the lead as soon as one enters the field whether it's on or off lead as even friendly dogs can become unpredictable if they find her intimidating (which would be easy to do). There have been the odd occasion where we haven't been quick enough to spot another and she has bogged off to it and I've been the very embarrassed apologetic owner running after her. Oddly enough in small spaces or totally surrounded by other dogs she is perfect and pays them no attention at all.
