RANT.......Bold Heath

To say I'm furious is an understatement.

Sent paper entry off to Bold Heath for the ODE in August. Cheque has been cashed, then in the post today my entry has been returned and written over it in black capitals that my entry has been returned as my membership to BE has expired and my sticker confirms this!!!!!

Now the sticker I used are the ones that you get a sheet of at the beginning of the season with your name and address on etc. On that is says my membership expires beginning May 2008. However I renewed it on line when previous membership was up and have a receipt from BE to confirm this. Have entered many events since then and have had no problems whatsoever.

When I entered Richmond back in May Jen Caley rang me to say my membership had expired by a couple of days. I renewed it that night and no further problems. When Beckwithshaw was cancelled last weekend I rang Amy Dixon (organiser Stafford) to see if I could get a late entry there and she was fantastic and very helpful. My point is could Bold Heath secretary not just have rung me to check? Or is this really asking to much?

I rang Bold Heath this afternoon and she said the data base said my membership had expired. So I rang BE and they said absolutly no way was that the case, I am paid up til next May and the fault is with Bold Heath!

So my question to anyone who knows about this 'data base' is how can this happen? THey say its flagging me up as not paid when quite clearly I have. I am completly insulted by Bold Heaths suggestion and the way they have handled this and will no way be considering entry into any of their events again.

I understand they have to ballot and draw a list up of those to ballot from somewhere, but I havn't even been balloted, just had my entry returned for no valid reason. I am sick and fed up of eventing at the moment if I'm honest. The cost is astronomical and the service is pants, we are customers at the end of the day. My last two events have been cancelled due to the weather and I havnt even had a refund for any of them yet - its pathetic!

I think you have been poorly treated - but you're in the same boat as hundreds of others who are receiving the same service.

Before I'm jumped on for slagging off show organisers, I realise that they are hugely understaffed and they can't do everything at once, or even anything quickly.
 
No I agree. Yes they must be extremely busy and harrased, and I have great gratitude to anyone who gives up their time freely to organise/help at shows/events etc.

But I have been penalised for nothing

It costs a fortune to register BE for the year when at the end of the day you only really get 8 months in which to compete, and then they have the audacity to say my membership has expired. Some service that it!!!!
 
Ahem, at the risk of being defamatory you are dealing with J**** B****, she is a complete and utter witch. I have been to Bold since I was a kid when my Dad used to take us, and a few years ago I took a wagon load (4 kids and 5 ponies) plus a couple of liveries came along in their box. Got there early did all the entries for all the kids as I was on my own, and went and got the first batch tacked up and on board, now there is a rule at Bold 'one rule for the liverys and another for outsiders' so the CR went on till an hour past the stated time, rewarmed up child no1 at the last jump before going in the ring he fell off, took him to the first aid, again was JB, who was commentating

So we put back 1st batch of children and ponies and I went to get an entry refund (about £45!) and was told I couldnt have my money back. Cue much ranting and raving from me!
Anyhows that pretty mauch sums her up!
Can you tell I don't like her?

PS I would get onto BE about this, it is one reason why Bold never ballots!
 
You'll only get broken into whilst your there anyway so I wouldnt bother going! Happened to my friend last time we went and when she rang the police thay said they were sick of the lack of security!!
 
Interesting!!!

I don't intend to leave it here, I am not paying membership of a professional association then some dim wit accusing me of letting my membership lapse when it quite clearly isnt the case. I wouldn't mind but she didn't even apologise when I spoke to her on the phone
