I was out riding today, and a couple came along with two doberman x whippet looking things which started straining at their leads and snapping at me and my horse. I asked the owners politely to keep them on the leads (saying I didn't want the dogs to be kicked), to which the guy released one of them, shouting at me that it was a public place and if the horse kicked his dog I could pay the f***ing vets bill! I couldn't believe it! Luckily my horse was good as gold - stood there and didn't flinch, even though the dog was nashing at his legs and running circles round him - but I couldn't believe how irresponsible some people are - and he obviously didn't care much for the dog either. Interestingly enough, once they and the dogs had walked passed for about 20 meters, he put the dog back on the lead and led it to the 'dog only' area - SOME PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

Pity you don't know who he was or where he lives or you could report him! His actions could prove seriously dodgy under the Dangerous Dogs Act! What a complete tw*t!

And I would have said, if your dog bites my horse you will get and even BIGGER bill and a dead dog when the horse kicks it.. your choice mate!!!

i am sorry to say dog owners are the most ignorant and selfish group of people you will meet when out riding, some are lovely and we stop for a natter, but i have to say the majority are quite anti horse.

it really pisses me off when you get dog owners like that-they are complete dicks- i have 2 german shepherds and they are always under control but when out walking them the number of bl**dy dogs that come up to us barking is unbelievable- and the owners just standing there stating that "its ok fluffies only playing" whilst my boys are getting very effed off with being harassed.

Same goes for when riding - so many people just let their dogs run off ahead and have no idea what they're up too- its so damn irritating and wouldn't be able to call them off if they wanted to.

Well done for not losing your rag with him- i think i'd have charged him and knocked the senseless idiot off his feet.
