I was going about my own bussiness today in my car and came up behind a string of car followers parked in the middle of the road, and a woman in a horse box at the back of the que. I got out of the car and asked the woman in the horse box if I could pass, she said no we are watching hounds you will have to go round. I could not beleive her attitude, so I pointed out to her and the others that THEY were blocking a public highway that I wanted to use. They still did not move and looked at me as if I was from another planet!! I then proceeded to tell them that no wonder so many of the general public were against hunting. God only knows what would of happened if the emergency services needed to get throught. Rant over Iam just seething at this womans attitude I had no right to be there.

That makes me so angry. I am vehemently pro, but too many times I have been trying to leave hunting to go elsewhere and they have blocked a road up or are driving slowly so they can see hounds. Behaving in such thoughtless ways does not endar us to the general public.

That is completely unacceptable behaviour from her - I used to follow in a car and was always very concerned about other road users.

IME however, car followers like the ones you encountered are very much in the minority.

Unfortunately there do seem to be a minority of car followers who have this attitude, the sort who give hunt followers a really bad name. I once had a run in with a group on a private lane going to my Mums, there were about 4 land rovers sitting there and made no effort to get out of my way. I actually spoke to one of the masters about them and pointed out the harm they were doing to hunting, don't spose it did any good. For the most part the car followers round here are lovely, and very considerate.

I have emailed a letter to the secretary, with the hope it gets read out at a committee meeting. Iam actually a great supporter of hunting, and would hate it to look like I am causing trouble, but I just wanted to point out to the masters and committee if I was just an ordinary member of the public who was not for hunting. God knows what kind of trouble the hunt would be in. Who knows they may of written to news papers etc for a group of people to blatantly block the road and tell me to turn round because they are not moving is hardly the kind of press hunting needs right now.

Sadly our local hunt seems to have a large number of these idiots. I don't hunt, but if others want to, that is absolutely fine. It's just these b****y followers, the ignorant ones, not all followers, that upset me.
