*Rant* rugs and mail order

So due to my boy being so deep in his chest/shoulders, I now only buy him Weatherbeeta rugs, as they are the best fit on him, and anything else rubs his shoulders raw.

Been trying to track down a 220g high neck to replace his existing one, which it seems have been discontinued.

I then saw the Medium/Lite combo with 100g fill and decided to get that instead. I ordered it from an online saddlery (not the one I know you're all thinking of:rolleyes:), and my delivery came, only to find they had sent the wrong rug, they had sent a Standard Lite instead.

So I called them up to explain, and asked to be sent the rug I had originally ordered, only to be told they're not only out of stock but, worse, that they have been discontinued and that no more will be available.

I then went online, to find that you can still order the original rug. I phoned them again and they said that their stockist wasn't getting any more as they have been discontinued, but if this is the case why are they still allowing people to purchase that rug online?

I was offered no compensation, just a refund, so now I can't get the rug I need, and its their fault. :mad::mad::mad:

So, anyone know where I can get hold of a nice high neck, or med/lite combo rug for my boy which will be ok on his shoulders?
 
Have you sent the rug back yet? What size is it?

I dont know what you want to spend, but there are some good ones on equestrian clearnace right now (:
 
I may be getting the worng end of the stick, and I can see why it is annoying. But I can't see why you should have got compensation? You got a full refund, so I am struggling to work out what else you would expect. It isn't the company's fault the rug is being discontinued, prehaps it would have been nice if they had put *sold out* on their website, so you hadn't ordered in the first place, but that is the problem when you order from home.

Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer. When I ordered the rug, it was in stock. They sent the wrong one, and in the time it took to get to me, the other had then sold out.

Thus if they had sent me the right one initially, it would have been fine, but due to their mistake, I lost out.

Rug is being collected in the morning - it is 6'0, which is atleast the size I ordered!!

Thanks, I am keeping an eye out on there to see if anything comes up that is suitable, its just I'm worried that whatever make I end up buying wont fit his chest!

Annoying, but something to chalk down to experiance. I'm sure they didn't deliberatly send you the wrong rug, just one of those annoying things! I use equestrian clearance, and never had a problem. Delivery has always been quick, prices are good amd I have always recieved what I ordered :)!

They are who I usually use, and I think highly of them too, but they managed to send me the wrong rug last time aswell :rolleyes: atleast they managed the right model (kind of!), but wrong size and wrong fill!

Maybe it's just my luck :o
 
How frustrating for you. Not sure if you have tried FAL, Mark Todd or Premier Equine rugs but they tend to come up a bit bigger so may be an alternative if you can't find what you want anywhere.

Give Equestrian Clearance a call and ask their advice. Their customer service people are lovely :D
