grrr!! am livid with X

my horse has been off for three weeks, and is now back in work following an infection around hock. (think it was a thorn). he is sound and is in good spirits!

X told me last wed that if he were X's horse, that X would get him fit and then sell him as he is so accident prone he may not be sound consistently for the season.
this is utter bull! he has had a week off this year due to an allergic reaction which could happen to any horse, and then was off for the last three weeks because of the infection!!!!!!

yes, he may always cut himself and at the moment holds a personal record of 6 cuts on one hind pastern, but i act accordingly! a cut will not make him so sore as they are superficial, and i treat them well keeping them clean. i am considering rubber mats for the walls as he is a big horse.
i only use one stud on the outside of each hind as he tends to stand on himself, and this reduces risk of stud cuts.

but although these injuries may be annoying, thats life! and X thinks that i should sell him!! horses are not machines!!

THEN X wanted to come on hack with me on sunday, so i said yes at 10am. X wants 10.30am. ok, i agree. so i wait till 11am before i set off on my own, as X not turned up. dont mind that X "forgot" that clock went forward. but on hack my boy gets excited at sheep being fed (dont ask!) and we get all tense and worked up and very forward going, so get home and i ask him to canter in the arena to try and get him loosened. X arrives at yard and sees me cantering, (on a loose rein i might add) and says nothing. later find out that X told Y that i was working horse hard when it wasnt needed! if X had asked me why i was cantering then i would have told X!!!!!
then blames me for creating swelling in hind leg (there was none) and basically telling me i was a bad person!!!
i know MY horse yet X thinks that just because i am younger that i know nothing at all! i have been taught by the best (Y) and i learn from Y all the time and am still learning - but i know sufficiant to look after my horse properly.

sorry for rant, any ideas what i can say to X to stop her treating me like a baby and giving her "advice"?

if it was me id tell them to **** off and mind their own business, but then that's just me and if someone had done that to me i would hav probably just fly off the handle at them. i'm only young and have looked after my own horses for 10 years now (mum is chief groom) and people still try and tell me what to do with them. I shouldn't worry about it too much, just try and forget about it, and as for the spooking, my horse will walk by tractors and buses without a second glance but spooked at her own shadow the other day.

that's horses for you.

i find now i have a green young horse thats quite talented but sometimes difficult i get this a LOT,i just listen to what they have to say and if it's something i agree with i take it on board but if i think it's something i don't agree with i do my own thing as at the end of the day i paid for the horse,i pay the livery, i own the horse so at the end of the day it's my decision!

I have my oppinion on things like what your talking about as we all do but i would never tell another owner at my yard what I would do and what i think they should do,it's not really me but there are some horsey people that def are like that and it does make me laugh as half the time they don't even know the horse apart from seeing it on the yard tied up!

X sounds like a busybody with nothing better to do. i'd be tempted to say something like "it's a good job your horse is so absolutely perfect in every way, to give you so much time to worry about everyone else's business"... in a saccharin voice, as if butter wouldn't melt. unless X is a rhino, the message will get through...

it's your horse, so X should s*d off, obviously! there's obv no cruelty involved, so it is none of X's business. the end.

We've all got an opinion how 'best' things should be done - it's soooo annoying.

P.s My horse has a sheep thing too - so I sympathise.
