There's a local girl to me who wants a cheap broodmare to breed from but not willing to pay anything for one it must be free. She has a mates cremello stallion to use so wants to breed to sell. Breeding don't seem to matter to her and stallion is a Heinz 57 and done nothing in his life not even reg. But she seems to think people will pay her decent money if she can breed palaminos and buckskins. Aren't there enough unwanted horses in this world already???? Surely only breed if you have good breeding and for a purpose not because it will be a pretty colour and everybody will buy a pretty colour. Is it just me or do people agree on this??
Also same girl has ad up for cheap alrounder to do a bit off everything with. I told her about my horse for sell who was up for a total give away price off 1000 but since been valued by vet at £4500 as a reasonable price. I had no ideal but now ads been removed. I mention to the girl about her ... She's a 16hh 10 yr old ish mare. Lovely stamp off a mare showjumped to 3ft 6 and novice evented hunted pony club camp etc etc but out off work so didn't think she would be worth much but will now get her going before I sell her. Well anyway girl said would think on it and e mailed me that night to say she would love my mare but would I except £400 for her. WHAT!!!' why do people want something for nothing these days.
Good luck to her finding a alrounder for 400. What a laugh.
Sorry guys rant over I feel better. Xx

i wouldnt mind if she wanted to breed so she can bring up the foal for herself, but i think its wrong to breed to sell :/ the foal will most probably be sold for its colouring....but what if it isnt? then what would happen to the poor thing....?
and its plain rude to offer just 400 for your horse  but by saying 'good luck in getting an all rounder for 400' well i guess you have to be in the right place at the right time, i got an all rounder for 500 (dealers didnt want her....if i was a week too late in finding her ad i wouldve missed her)
if she does find a broodmare and does end up breeding i really do hope the foal finds a good home...

I agree. There are enough horses waiting to be slaughtered that have very good breeding, why add to the stockpile that is the UK's horses? There is nothing to stop her though so she is going to do what she wants in the end. :(
