Very p****d off today.......... Last night at yard got horses done early, so decided that I would check over my lorry, going out competing at the weekend, so did oil and water and then started it, air pressure came up good, but fuel gauge didn't move from E, some scumbag b*****d has drained my tank of £70-80 of diesel......... ran round to check tank and they have had the cap off. Called the YO to let her know what had happened, and she was going to sent her OH out to check everything, what scumbags, the inconvenience they have caused, not to mention the cost of diesel............... Very p****d off Heidi1...

oh dear - until the 1970s fuel caps didn't have locks - then there was an oil crisis, fuel costs leapt to 50p a gallon (about 12p a litre), fuel was in short supply all round and people started stealing fuel from tanks - hence the invention of locking fuel caps. How many of you remember that

God I would be livid as well, I hate puting fuel in at the best of times (£100 as shot) but knowing some one has helped themselves - well words fail me

I had the same thing happen to us on the Oxford services of the M40, some blokes in a transit pulled away as we approached the lorry and they all put their heads down and drove off wheel spinning which we thought was odd.

Wasn't until we got onto the motorway and looked at the fuel gauge we realises they had drained the tank. The most gutting thing was they had obviously seen that we had filled up then parked up to get something to eat.

Rang directory enquiries and asked for Oxfordshire police and the smart arse on the phone said who do you want Inspector Wexford? Yeah funny one!

We had to coast all the way down to Heathrow to fill up and to this day I have no idea how we made it!

My dad fitted a locking cap after that!

It is so gutting I know how you feel!

That is so dangerous too... what if you needed to get one of the horses to hospital in an emergency!!! People like that make me so bloody mad!

God that is worse than might situation, atleast I found it before setting off......
Certainly is gutting, you work hard to provide for yourself and your horses and then some scum come along and take it away from you..........

A mate who has a haulage company had this the other week - emptied 6 artics - they don't lock tanks now as the b******s just puncture the tank and drain it that way - cost of diesel gone and new tanks for each lorry

Locking fuel caps aren't that useful now as people are puncturing the fuel tank, despite the dangers.
