I will try to keep this as brief as I can.

We recently had a horse on loan, he was 5 and a sweetie. We paid for his back to be checked and teeth done and the owner whisked him off the yard and gave him to some new people to loan. What she hasn't told them is he has bad back pain, is only good for gentle hacking at the moment. He also needs his wolf teeth out soon and his saddle sits on his spine. He also needs exercises for his back twice a day.
His selfish owner hasn't told the new loaners any of this e.g the exercises or that he needs a new saddle, and when we tried to let them know their immature little daughter refused to believe us and is calling us jealous. No, just worried about the lovely horse you are going to ruin love! Hence she continues to ride him and he will progressively get worse. SOME PEOPLE!!:mad::mad:

Argh, that's a really frustrating one :(

Maybe if you put it in financial terms (e.g. this is what it will cost you in veterinary treatment if you continue to ignore the issue, ongoing physio etc) or even a scare tactic (if you continue to ignore the issue you risk the horse becoming dangerous from pain and injuring little miss precious princess daughter) they might listen. It's sad, but maybe you have to make it all about them to get them to pay heed.

the owner won't hear any of it! she is a smug little beeep!!:mad: blocked us and wont talk to us.

also the people loaning are her 'friends' we have LISTED his issues, they do not care. they accuse me of lying and being jealous. we have said he will become dangerous from the pain-again they say we are lying and being jealous.:mad:
the little princess goes to my college too, tomorrow infact, so it's hard to keep a lid on it.

And just now, she too has blocked me.

Some people  Poor pony, and he's only 5 bless him :( Try to avoid the girl at college, if she does speak to you though about the pony, just keep saying what you've said before. Could you get the vet/saddler to possibly contact the new loaners as they may possibly listen to them - as long as they dont say you told them to ring? Might not work but might be worth a shot if possible. Poor pony :(

Just don't get why it's so hard to let go of pettiness and put the welfare of the horse first in these situations?

because they are acquaintances with the owner, who comes across as nice but underneath is cold and calculating. in her words she wanted to "get rid of him", and she has palmed the poor soul off on them making him sound like a shining golden wonder.
he's a baby horse with a few issues that will ruin him or make him dangerous. he bronc's when you want to canter and the girl isn't good at riding so wonder how that will go down.
but, because the OWNER said he is fine then in their eyes he is and nothing we say will change their mind. despite having professional validity ...

They will believe you once the daughter gets bronced off. Sadly people like that only learn the hard way. Don't expect any aknowledgement of being right though, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if his issues become your fault ! :(

my college tutor said they might blame us too, however we have statements from professionals that prove he was like that when he came to us and we were in the process of fixing him.
now he will degenerate :/ one of the worst things about horses-not having any power to stop them being neglected if they aren't yours.
