rape seed & coughing?

out hacking last night & today 4 of the horses started coughing, no glands are up,they are out 24/7.

we have lots of rape seed fields around us just now,do you think this is the cause?

2 of the horses coughing are in different fields from mine & this is the 1st time they have hacked out together for a few weeks

My old mare had "hayfever" type symptoms if ridden through rape when in flower. She also had a bit of a snotty nose, cough and runny eyes if it was planted near her field.

I use to avoid riding through rape and used to give her hayfever tablets if it got really bad.

Vet told me a lot of horses do react to it.

yes very likely, I had to move yards away from it with my horse and the difference this year is amazing

We feed our horse on NAF respirator and my horse lived next to a field of rape last year and had no reaction, he normally has hay fever reactions to tree and summer pollens.
