Yesterday my son noticed a big lump in Jazmine's mouth (my 6 year old rottie and love of my life). When I looked I thought maybe she had banged her mouth against Bailey's as they are always playfighting roughly. However, the more I looked I could see it was more additional gum flesh than a tear and this morning the outside of her mouth was looking swollen. The growth is growing down over her top left canine tooth.
I took her to the vet who said not to worry, it was most likely just where the gum goes into overdrive for some reason and starts growing. I have been panic stricken all day worrying that it may be a tumour. She is going to have it operated on Wednesday morning and they will send it off for tests which will take 10 days to come back.
Has anyone else had experience of this type of growth. If I can get a photo of it I will as it is amazing to see, it is the same colour as the rest of her gums, but growing down over her tooth. Course, now I am worried about her having a general anaesthetic, so will be pacing the floors Wednesday, but would be interested to hear if you have seen this before.
