My pony got broken last September at 3 and a half, and is now ridden for 20 minutes once or twice a week in walk, trot and a circuit of canter.
Today she was making a strange rasping noise when she was breathing, especially prominent when in canter or if she flexed her head in. She wasn't in any pain, and it didn't effect her performance (typical bouncy, ears forwards happy self) but it was really unusual, so I stopped and brought her in.
Left her eating normally, she'd drunk and showed no reluctance or pain in doing so.
I've noticed it one off a short rasp when inhaling but not persistant like it was today. She's extremely unfit, her work isn't much, walk 10 mins, 7mins trot (interupted by walk) and 3 mins canter (roughly, I don't time exactly
) so perhaps I've just pushed her a little too much today and she's unfit? Or could it be something respiratory?
