I hope this is an isolated case! I have a sand arena at my home, further away from the house than the 1 mentioned in the article. It is purely for my use. I cannot see how on earth it should be rated on top of the houses's rates. After all it is just a large sandpit so I would argue all childrens' sandpits should be rated too. Where will it end? If sand arenas are to now be included then what about greenhouses, sheds, as already mentioned tennis courts, swimming pools, large tampolines, tree houses, the list is endless. I'll be planting trees (think palms like sand!) in mine and flaming well ride round them if this is the case....or maybe I'll get extra rates charges for a "mini desert"!
