Just started my 7 month old small puppy on the raw diet. I have a friend who shoots and I just wondered if I could feed pigeon. No books seem to mention this. Also, he could get me some rabbit but someone told me not to feed wild rabbit in case they are carrying myxomatosis. Any comments on this please?

Plucking pigeons when they're slightly warm seems easier. I remove heads/crop and have a vague look for lead shot, more for fear of them breaking a tooth than poisoning them. Rabbit is fine as long as you're not squeamish. One of mine always starts at the head. :eek3:

I found a dead rabbit on my drive last year the dog must have got it god knows how she managed to catch it as it was almost as big as her, she had also chewed the face and nothing else gross :/

Brig delivered a magotty rabbit to me last week at the river. I unthinkingly went to the same spot today and all three of them were fascinated with the remnants :eek3: but it was in such a state that I couldn't move it. Euw.
