For those of you that use standard size chest or under counter freezers, can you give me a vague idea of how much you can order in one go and fit it all in?

I've been given a standard under counter freezer (hey, it was free....I'd prefer a chest type but...free!) and am just trying to peg how much I should order. I've been able to get 50lb of mince into two shelves in my upright american ridge/freezer but don't want to go overboard and have no where to put it all!

Thanks

Not on raw anymore, unfortunately :( however we have a standard chest freezer and I used to order eleven boxes, each box contained twenty packs of a pound of meat. This still left me room for some human meat :D

not sure on the exact weight, and it depends on your supplier. my supplier does frozen bags of mince which I think are about 450g each and come in orders of 20 per flavor, so about 9kg. I could fit 3 of these batches in my freezer and a few bones and pigs ears, but that was pretty stuffed without much else for us! but that was a months worth (i have a german shepherd so he eats a lot!). If you still want some room for you it would probably be about 20kg of mince and a few extra bits to leave you with some space. we now have a mini chest freezer in our shed as well as fridge-freezer, so we can buy 3 months worth in one go to save on delivery costs/ frequency.
sorry if rough maths is wrong! think its about right.

We have an under counter freezer in the shed and the last order was about 25kg I think. Mostly the mince bags, plus some trotters and chicken carcasses. Basically I buy 50 quids worth as they'll do free delivery, and it all fits in the shed freezer :)

Thanks guys - freezer is solely for the dogs as I wanted to get the various game birds and bunnies still in feather/fur and guts in for cold game training out of the food freezer!!
