I haven't writen any reports for a while what with bad feeling here and there. But with all that vaguely cleared up, i thought i'd bore you all with one again..
My reports arn't writen by the horse, nor are they entertaining.. they are usually just a serries of excuses (with bad spelling and grammar)
Excuse no. 1 the dressage.
Orla has been off games since Aug of last season, when she ended on a fairly bad note in the PN at Cleobury M..
Since then i've only sat on her about 4 or 5 times, (the live in nanny of her owner has been riding her/getting her fit, but is more of a 'happy hacker') therefore our dressage wasn't quite up to scratch.. in the half 10m circles she lost balance a little, and her trans. wern't as smooth as they could have been.. all in all tho, i was fairly pleased with her test.. and felt the mark of 33.8 was also pretty fair.
Onto the SJing.. No excuses here.. she did a lovely clear round!
Onto the XC... Now this is a mixture of excitment at the future, and gilt/relief at the past..
Orla had dreadfull wind problems, to the extent that she couldn't really breath!! so at the end of last season her owner Clair decided to have it opperated on.. the vet said wind is measured on a scale of 1 - 5.. 1 being not that bad, 5 being that you might as well put a plastic bag over its head.. Orla was a 4.5
So the gilt was over what we made her do last season.. the relief was that it really hasn't upset her at all, cos she still loves it all!! and the excitment is over the ride she gave me and the thought of what she may be able to do in the future now
Ok, it was only a tiny course, well below what she has been doing (she was happy at PN last season and this was a small intro) but it was perfect for her, the perfect sweetner
She flew round
and she has really decovered that she can gallop, she's developed a proper stride
There was one slight problem
Orla doesn't do ditches on their own.. fine if they have a fence over them, or are infront of a bank etc.. but not on their own.. anyway, the second last fence was a ditch followed by a roll top.. there was a much longer route.. seeing as it was a team event, after talking it over with the team manager we decided that we should just go straight for the long route.. she found out how tight the time was, and came back saying that not many had made the time, so if i was going to go the long route i should kick on a bit..
Well, with the new and improved Orla i didn't have to kick on at all!!
As i said above, she flew round and got 1.6 timefaults for going TOO FAST
She finished up 4th
and the team finished up 3rd
however i don't think that was good enough to qualify for anything.. not that that matters, we were all thrilled
Here's a few boring pictures..
