Was a little excited about last weekend and very scared too as my mare had been off form so I turned down the opportunity to go to Hickstead then a team member dropped out so I was asked to jump the 85cm. My mare has had ulcers so a change in her routine could be bad for her, and she had to load on a different lorry and have a night in a stable for the first time since Feb!!! But its not everyday you get a chance to jump at Hickstead! So off we went! Packed so much it was silly, then met up with Kal (from on here) and found her lorry, then had to load my mare on to it, after the 2nd attempt she went on nicely, then spotted she had taken a chunk of her head off (silly mare)!

Off went and it took longer then anticipated, bloody M25!!! Arrived and found our stables and settled her in

and went to check out the main arena, and watched some of the speed comp, then went to walk our course which was nice. Had some team bonding over dinner and had a lovely night on a aire bed!!

Woke up feeling sick, my mare hacks alone but can be a spooky bugger, she didnt seem phased by the stable so was pleased! Wasnt sure if I could get her to the arena, never mind in it (and with our previous bad form), round it may be a ask. Went to watch a couple and it looked very slippy, I was cursing my farrier who forgot my stud holes! but decided to take long sweeping lines. Warmed up in the big arena as the one by the ring was horrid, she felt amazing and very up for it. Event though there were some lovely people on side saddle, it looked amazing and stunning luckly my mare didnt care.

Went in and she went nicely to fence 1 so very happy, at fence 3 she touched it on the way up, it was unlucky then turned to fence 4, she slipped on the stride before takeoff so had no stride, represented and she flew the rest with no problem!! Very pleased with her, but gutted as I felt Id let the team down, as they were likely to go clear. But they werent too bothered thank god!!
Pics off me to follow, but this is our 95cm team member concentrating on the course:

Kal im sure will do her own report but she finished on 4 faults, after having a panic attack as her boy has been being tricky, I turned in to bossy person and kept putting fences up for her and ordering her around in a effort to keep her calm!

So we finished on 12, and managed 17th which for our first attempt wasnt bad:

The horses wernt impressed to be tacked up again

She seemed to cope just fine, I gave her, her suppliments 3 times instead of twice and seemed really calm and happy!! and she had gastrogard just incase! Bloody expensive animal!

At least I know I can go to away shows without worrying now!

Yay team Keysoe! Well i think the main thing is to go for the experience!

Were the other people friendly?

I warmed up in the big arena last year, as in the little one at the side you had to dodge trees and idiots!

Wow well done!! Was it a very awe-inspiring occasion? Think I'd be overcome with nerves!! Pops looks fab.

I was feeling very green first thing in the morning, but just had to get on with it, and she made it feel easy! Im glad I didnt see anyone fall over else I may not have got round!!! You felt part of it all as there were show ponies and lovely horses everyone and you had to wrestle with them all for warm up space! If you get the chance to go do it was great fun!

Again well done!!!! :D You did great. I'm already looking forward to next year.

I'll post my report soon. Have to do a little bit of work first :p
