Just wondering whether admin might let us have a bit bank sticky in here? We could list all the bits we have that we wouldn't mind lending out for people to borrow/try?

Just a thought...

Fabulous idea....perhaps a little regulated though? i.e. perhaps only those with say, 500+ posts can borrow a bit to stop any untoward happenings? Or a refundable deposit is paid via paypal for the bit?

I have a million bits I dont use, so I think the bit bank is a good idea. I wouldnt send them out to just anyone so Druid's idea of regulating is a good one, there are many people on HHo I trust

Same here although I have already lent out a lot of things but they are all coming back slowly so I think although the regulation idea is a good one, don't let it be the only criteria - I wouldn't have lent any of my stuff out to someone that I didn't feel I 'knew' quite well from their posts on here and their general attitude to life if that makes any sense.

I guess it would be a case of us picking and choosing who we lend to? Not sure how best to do it- everyone posts listing what they have maybe and then people pm them?

Could draw up some regulations re post count etc but ultimately the lender would reserve the right to lend or not?

Having only ever needed 2 bits for JF I seem to have accumulated an awful lot for my last 2 horses!

I think it is a great idea too! I haven't got that many bits people could borrow. But would love to try bits, because bitting is really trial and error for your horse. Has someone suggested it to admin? The only thing is whom the lender would lend too, but this is probably best done trough personal agreement, and preferences.

What happens if someone loaned something and then never returned it? You know what some folks are like - they are happy to take things but "forget" to send them back.........I've met a few of those in my days!

Dreadfully bad manners and often from the people you least expect!

Oooo thats a great idea. Ive got a few bits too. Maybe we could ask for a cheque for £10 (or more if its a dear bit) before you send the bit as a guarantee incase it isnt returned, then if its returned you rip the cheque up. I suppose the cheque could bounce or someone could cash the cheques and not send the bit but I think the majority, if not all of the people on here seem very genuine.

I agree with Louby, a £10 cheque written in a contact somewere. Like on www.shop4bits.com would be really good! And make our bits more secure, however going back to my original post I think it will be down to personal agreement! Has anyone suggested it to admin, or shall I take the plunge and get told no!!
