jay, who will be 4 next June came back from his winter holiday a couple of days ago. On Friday we lunged and long reined him in a roller. today we put his saddle on and lunged him for about 6 mins. he roached a bit, and had a little buck, but on the whole was good.
So then we got the mounting block and daughter leant over his back, he stood like a rock. She gently got on him and sat for a moment before I led him forward. then I let go and she walked him around the arena, changing rein and asking for halt etc and he was as good as gold. you would not have thought he had had 5 months off!
So very pleased with him today, hopefully this will continue. he has such a lovely temperament and is sweet which I think really helps the breaking in process.
