The mare that I bought for 1 Euro has been with me as a livery for at least 6 if not 8 years. She is a lovely mare and never been any trouble at all.Her owner called me about 2 months ago saying that she could no longer pay her livery due to serious financial probs and that Jappaloup had to go. She said that she wanted to find her a really good home OR she would have her put down

. I could understand where she was coming from but after all these years together..well..

.I did my best to find her a new home but no luck so I turned to the L.A.V. thinking that they were a serious organisation and would be able to help. They put a photo of her and some details on their site (www.alture.it) and after about a week I had a phone call from the 'big boss' of the LAV. She said that a suitable home had been found and that the place had been inspected by more than one of their officers. The place was pronounced as 'ideal for a horse' and the people 'knowledgeable' but we were not allowed to visit before taking the mare

.As the mare wasnt mine and the owner had signed the forms regarding the adoption my oh had to load her up and take her to her new home. he called me when he was on the way back home (minus mare) and was clearly upset.he took some photos of the 'ideal home' and here is one of her new stable

This was passed by a LAV inspector. I wont bore you with the details of her paddock nor the fact that there was no feed nor hay for her
frown.gif
.The people knew SF All about horses

. To cut a long story short, I told the owner what had happened and that if we could get her back I would buy her myself and see what I could do. Through a good friend, who is high up in the police, we managed to get her back yesterday-God bless him

. Jappi is now at our friend Petra's stud/yard and is running with the barren broodmares. This past few days has seen some fairytale endings for a few horses
smile.gif
.I just have to figure out how to pay for her upkeep

She was popped in a box for an hour to get her breath back.
I am so disgusted at the LAV and a very strong letter will be on its way to the various horse mags etc here in Italy. And I thought the RSPCA was bad!

Sorry if Ive gone on a bit

All i can say! If you went through that much to get her back, you have been and are going to be the BEST owner for her!
You seem like you would do anything for her- she is lucky to have such a nice owner as you

!

Good luck, and keep us updated

The problem is that when a new horse comes onto my yard, he becomes one of the family,This can cause problems when something happens as I take it on board and instead of distancing myself I end up way too involved
crazy.gif
And to think that Id promised myself that I would never buy another horse unless it was to ride and or compete
frown.gif
. Just aswell oh manages to stop me, most of the time or the house and yard would be full of down and outs and crocks
grin.gif
M.PS, anyone needing their lawn cut?

To be honest, I couldnt begin to think what they saw as 'ideal' in that place. It was lucky that oh took 2 bales of hay and a bag of mix with her otherwise!!!!!! I hate to think what couldve happened to her

.Im off to give the neds their last hay of the night, watch Doc House and go to bed.Im up at 5.30 tomorrow for the blacksmith. Night night, M.

well done you, I can't believe they thought that place was suitable!

The stud looks lovely though, she is a lucky mare to have you watching over her.
