Just wondering if antone has any ideas about Toby. Not sure if im best getting farrier back out or vet.

Basically, thurs before last (9 days ago) toby got shod, was also whitnessed belting round the field with another horse. Thurs PM he came in lame. Slight swelling just above the fetlock so presumed was caused by running, ligament strain or a twist perhaps. Buted him, bandaged and box rested. After 2 days was almost sound, just a tiny bit short and pottery. Rested for the rest of last week on limited trun out, was sound by thurs just gone but waited until today to get back on. Hacked out 30 mins in walk today, sound as a bell so turned out for a few hours. Came in lame. No heat in either leg and swelling that was there has completely gone down but he is lamer that he was before. Am now thinking might be nail bind???

Vets are coming on thurs anyway, do u think im best getting farrier out first to look at foot or get vets before thurs?? I never had any experience of nail bind before. Had lots with ligament prob which is why im now thinking its not his leg as it doesn't seem typical. Any ideas?

If it was nailbind he would be hopping lame all the time and there would not normally be swelling in his fetlock so I don't think it's that. Probably best to consult vet if it continues. As he's lame after turnout, and with the grass coming through - does he have any history of laminitis??

Its defo not lami. Unless its stress related, if anything he could put a bit on weight on, 17.2 TB type. Standing straight on his feet, no heat in hooves. The wierd thing is the swellings gone but the lameness has come back. He does naturally fill up when he's stood in his house.
